American Association of Orthodontists

American Association of Orthodontists

Approximately 95% of American orthodontists are members in the American Association of Orthodontists. Other members include dentists and members of the American Dental Association.

Only orthodontists who have completed at least two years of study in an accredited orthodontic residency program are qualified to become members in the American Association of Orthodontists.

Orthodontists in the AAO specialize in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of facial and dental abnormalities including malocclusion (misaligned teeth and jaws). To find an orthodontist with advanced training, check for membership in the American Association of Orthodontists.
